What does it take to build a thriving healthcare practice rooted in community care? Today we're joined by Dr. Kwan Doe, co-founder of Eastville Chiropractic, a practice dedicated to help patients move better, feel better, and live healthier lives. In just a year and a half, Dr. Doe has quickly made an impact in Eastville by combining clinical excellence with a genuine commitment to serving the community. Dr. Doe graduated Summa Kumlare and has already been nominated for Small Business of the Year by the Eastville Chamber of Commerce in 2025. His work and expertise has also been featured in the Eastville Insider, Neighbors of Eastville magazine. And he has been highlighted by the Eastville Chamber of Commerce and the City of Eastville, including an interview at the city's end-of-the-year banquet. Beyond patient care, Dr. Doe believes strongly in supporting the community, sponsoring local nonprofit events such as Move Through Motivation and building relationships that expand beyond the clinic. For him, the biggest milestone isn't awards. It's the gratitude for patients whose lives have improved through his care. Welcome, Dr. Dell.

SPEAKER_03

Thank you.

SPEAKER_00

Thank you for being here and taking the time.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, thank you for having me.

SPEAKER_00

So tell us a little bit of what uh Eastville Chiropractic is about. Yeah. And services.

SPEAKER_03

Eastwell Chiropractic is not only a chiropractic clinic, but also it offers acupuncture and massage therapy. And our goal at the end of the day is to help patients move better, live a better life, live healthier. And so that's kind of the intention behind our care. And that's what we hope for for all of our patients as well.

SPEAKER_00

Awesome. Where can we find you? Where is it located?

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, it's on the corner of Archibald and Schleisman. Um, and it's in the big medical plaza. So we're also among other medical providers, including physical therapy, uh, men's game day health. Um, we have a few urgent cares in that facility as well. And then we have a new pediatric dentistry downstairs too. Yeah, so there's a lot of stuff happening in that medical plaza, but it's nice to have a lot of different services available for patients.

SPEAKER_00

Okay, that's good to know. It's everything in one house, yes, under one roof. So, what inspired you to become a chiropractor?

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, that's a great question. Um gosh, where do I start? Um, well, I had a personal experience with a chiropractor. This was back when I was in my early 20s, and I was dealing with a really intense low back pain that eventually, long story short, was um uh resolved with chiropractic care and co-managed by acupuncture care at the same time. And that's what opened my eyes to the world of conservative care and inspired me to go down that route as well.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, that's awesome. Would you mind sharing um how that lower back pain happened?

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, um I was it was this was an undergrad, so I was studying a lot and I was sitting down for a very long period of time and I didn't know how to take care of myself, um, specifically with like exercises, stretching, um, just how to go about my daily life without making things worse for myself. Um, and I think I was either lifting something or it was like a long night of studying where my back just like gave out and I started having trouble sleeping. I started having trouble lifting like even the lightest objects. So that's when I seeked care and I got the advice I needed.

SPEAKER_00

Nice. Yeah. And that inspired you to be in that field helping other people with the same issues.

SPEAKER_03

Exactly. Yeah. So it inspired me to go into a field where I could provide hands-on care to patients, and chiropractic is one of them.

SPEAKER_00

Nice.

SPEAKER_03

That's what drew me to this profession.

SPEAKER_00

And we are blessed to have you because I can testify. My husband and I have been to your office and you have saved our bags so many times.

SPEAKER_03

That's very thoughtful.

SPEAKER_00

Which is uh it's amazing to have you here in in Eastville.

SPEAKER_03

I'm glad to serve the Eastville community.

SPEAKER_00

Beyond opening Eastville chiropractic, what was your journey um like before?

SPEAKER_03

Yeah. Um I'll start with undergrad. I guess that's where I started. So um uh I guess when you're that young, you're thinking about so many different career options. And then, as you know already, I eventually went down the path of trying to go down like hands-on care. Um, so eventually I landed on chiropractic care. And then after I graduated undergrad, I started attending chiropractic school. And that was that was a journey for sure. A lot of ups and downs, a lot of long nights uh emotionally and physically, but it was it was rewarding in the end. Um, I started school uh right when the pandemic started. So it was it was a big transition and not only for the school, but for myself as well. And it was difficult to navigate, but not impossible. And I'm happy I'm where I'm at right now.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, and so are we.

SPEAKER_03

Thank you.

SPEAKER_00

Um, what were some of your biggest challenges in launching a healthcare practice from the ground up?

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, um a lot. There's a lot of challenges for sure. I think with building anything in general. Um, with the office, I can't take full credit for uh building the clinic entirely. I have the help of my mentors who are also my partners in the clinic, um Dr. Hang Fam and Dr. Tiffany Chen, who essentially put their brains together and created uh Eastwell Chiropractic, and then eventually brought me on to help manage the clinic as a whole. Um, so this past year has been a big learning curve for myself where I'm not only learning how to uh like help support the clinic itself, but also my staff and also the patients that we serve.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. Yeah, I remember I haven't seen them in a while.

SPEAKER_03

They still come. They still come. They still come uh like every two weeks or so to check in on the office. Um, and uh I see them often too. We're good friends.

SPEAKER_00

It's beautiful. You guys just celebrated a year uh anniversary, right?

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, this last this was last July where we celebrated our one year anniversary of opening. Um that was really exciting. Um, but I was actually there for the grand opening as a student. Were you at the grand opening? Yeah. You were? Okay. Um yeah, as well, small world. Um but I was there as a student, and then I was there as the chiropractor at the one-year anniversary. This was back in July, so almost half a year ago.

SPEAKER_00

Well, it's gonna be two years now.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, almost, yeah. So it's it's been a while. So that was really fun, and we had a big celebration, and we had everyone from the chambers as well to celebrate with us. It was amazing.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, it was a beautiful event in the chakurtu board.

SPEAKER_03

Oh yeah. Huge. Oh my god, did you did you get some? Okay. I love charcuterie.

SPEAKER_00

That was the biggest chakurtu board I've ever seen.

SPEAKER_02

It was huge, yeah. Oh my god.

SPEAKER_00

So you mentioned um that one of your biggest milestones is when patients show gratitude. Is there a patient story that really stuck with you?

SPEAKER_02

Yeah. Um, gosh.

SPEAKER_03

There's there's a few. Um we always have like our routine like patients that come in every now and then. We actually had a patient cook us uh a home cooked meal in the morning before she came in, and it was the sweetest gesture I've ever received. Like she came into her appointment and she said, I just made this for you guys. And we had that for lunch. It was amazing. It was um, it was it was like a fried like dumpling dish. Um, I'm not gonna get the name right, so I'm gonna try it. But it was uh it was it was a really delicious dish. Uh it was it was savory, had like little uh had meat in it, and um it was fried that morning, and then she brought it in, and it was still piping hot too when she brought it in. So that was really sweet. Um but actually one story that sticks out to me the most is a patient that I actually ended up not treating at all. Um and uh he expressed uh gratitude to me and my staff afterwards. So basically what happened was uh a patient came in with debilitating low back pain that he's been dealing with for a very long time. Um and one of the things that we've learned in school and to be essentially good providers at the end of the day, is to assess if patients are good candidates to be like to receive chiropractic care to begin with. So when the patient came in, I had done uh his history and his physical exam and then asked pertinent uh follow-up questions. And eventually down the line, one of my differentials, my diagnosis, was that his low pack pain was coming from his kidneys. Oh wow there's something called a Murphy's punch test. Basically, you perform the tests on the patient's low back area, specifically around where their kidneys lie. And that test was positive on both sides. So um, one of the most common um radiation radiation points from the kidneys is to present as low back pain. So um most patients when they come in, they're presenting with some kind of musculoskeletal complaint. But for him, I based on my exam, it led me to believe that his pain was coming from his kidneys. So I ended up not treating him because he's not indicated for chiropractic care, and I had to send him off to the appropriate professionals after that. But he was very thankful for what happened afterwards, and that's a story that sticks with me. Yeah, and um a testament to my training as well. So um, I'm just happy I get to do that in Eastville.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, yeah, it's important to know um that we can trust in your expertise um and not just you know fix us because we have an issue, but you help us find out what the root of the problem is.

SPEAKER_03

I do my best.

SPEAKER_04

I try again.

SPEAKER_00

Well, so far you've been good. Um tell us how has it been for you being involved in the East Vale Chamber of Commerce? What's your experience been like?

SPEAKER_03

Really rewarding. Um the exposure has been incredible for one. Um I go to the the morning monthly meetings at the uh the the Chamber of Commerce uh at East Vale City Hall. Um and I get to mingle and meet new people, and it's been really nice to see familiar faces constantly and then get my name out there, and then also the clinic's name, and then also get to know what other businesses and other services are being offered in Eastvale. Um, and then also just being involved with like the city events in general has been really rewarding, I think. Like some patients that have come to us is because they hear about it through word of mouth, or a chamber member spoke of them, or uh one of our patients spoke of them. So the exposure has been excellent, and I'm I'm I'm really happy to be a part of the the chambers.

SPEAKER_00

That's good. I'm glad you've had a good experience.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, only good experiences.

SPEAKER_00

Good. Good not tell me. Yeah, yeah. We'll change that. Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

My head pull like that.

SPEAKER_00

Um so you you guys, since you guys were nominated as uh small business of the year, how how was that um uh milestone for you guys? Yeah, what did it mean?

SPEAKER_03

It was it well, first off, incredibly honored because when I received that email, I was like, whoa, like that's that's incredible because we haven't even been open for uh a year yet. I think around the when was the banquet? I don't know.

SPEAKER_00

It was in July.

SPEAKER_03

Okay, yeah, so that's around our anniversary time. So um I guess it was after or before. Um, but yeah, we had been open for about a year, and I know before I started coming on, I know Dr. Tiffany Chen and Connie were coming to the meetings as well. Um, and it was first an honor, and then also just really cool to like to be included in something like that, and be included in that space, and to have been interviewed for it, and then also eventually like nominated for it um at the banquet was really awesome. Yeah, yeah. But I do want to shout out Pro Pro Force, yeah, right? You guys actually took away the award, you guys won 12 Business of the Year. That's awesome.

SPEAKER_00

Thank you.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, that's well deserved for sure.

SPEAKER_00

Thank you. Yeah, it's hard work, yeah. It is hard work. I think it was a tough um the people that we were nominated with was kind of like difficult, you know, because we we talked to everybody. Yeah, yeah, it was. We're like, oh no, why are we nominated together?

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, no, it's okay. Like I just give it to everyone, but you guys deserved it 100%. That's awesome.

SPEAKER_00

Thank you. Appreciate that.

SPEAKER_03

Outstanding, outstanding ovation.

SPEAKER_00

I was like, yeah, I know both of them.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah. I can't say that that's hypocrite. Well, we just said we shared it. That's all right. You shared it, so it's okay.

SPEAKER_00

Thank you.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, no problem.

SPEAKER_00

Um, so tell us, tell us a little secret or something that we can um learn from you. What is one common mistake um that people do that leads to back pain or neck pain?

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, it's a great question. Um, how you sit and posture is probably the biggest thing. I'm good now. I'm good. But yeah, sitting is probably the biggest thing. Posture in general is um, you might not feel another moment, but bad posture over time really adds up and builds up. And sometimes patients will come in with like they don't have a specific mechanism of injury, but it's clear that their injuries come from that posture that has been developing over the past, I don't know how long, but it is how it is. So um, one thing I can advise everyone, this applies to everyone, is making sure you're being mindful of your posture, keeping your chin tucked, right? Don't over hunch like this. I'm over-exaggerating, obviously, but um being mindful of your posture when you're doing anything, when you're working at a desk, um, when you're on your phone. A common thing on your phone is to like sit down and look down like this. So um you could hold it up like this, all right? Like different ways to modify your life to help you long term. And we only get one body once, right? So um it's really important that we are mindful of those things so that we can help prevent future injuries.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. That's that's good to know.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

How true is it that um wearing like either your phone in your back pocket or your wallet can throw off your hip?

SPEAKER_03

Yeah. Great question. Yeah. Yeah, that's a great question. Well, I I will reel in um some of my own experiences. Not my own, but like experiences that I've dealt with patients. We serve uh patients who are truck drivers where they're sitting for a long period of time and traveling for a long distance. And sometimes they'll have their phone or their wallet in their back pocket. And you'll start to notice with them in particular, and this is based on what they've told me, is over time they start to develop low back pain or hip pain, or they feel how they describe it like off, right? Like a little bit tilted. Um, but yes, over like the same thing with bad posture over time. Little things like having your wallet in your back pocket might not feel like anything on that day, but if you do it every day for five years, what does that mean for your pelvis and your hips, right? So I think there is some truth to that. Um, I'd have to look into the literature to see exactly. But uh yes, uh it's advised not to put anything in your back pockets, especially if you're sitting for a long time.

SPEAKER_00

It's interesting how one little thing can lead to like a big issue. Um like you said, it's it's in the long term, not right then and there.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah. Sometimes it can happen then and there too.

SPEAKER_00

Really? Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

Those are more like acute injuries where like, okay, my back is starting to feel uncomfortable or something, or they'll strain their back in that instance. It just really depends on the patient. So um just try not to do it. If possible, yeah.

SPEAKER_00

I know also uh lifting heavy uh for those people who are exercising. Um that happened to me actually. I lifted more than I could carry myself. Um and I threw off my QL, I think that's what it's called.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, the there are big muscles in the back of your own back.

SPEAKER_00

So I threw that off and I couldn't walk for like I could walk, but it it was painful for probably a month or so. Oh wow, that's but I never went to a chiropractor. Yeah, I never did, because I was I was afraid.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, to be honest. And that's understandable. That's that's completely understandable. There's a lot of there's a gap in knowledge with what chiropractic offers, and every chiropractor practices a little bit differently too. So um, once you find the right chiropractor or a chiropractor that suits your needs or has the same mindset as you, I think you'll be okay for the most part. Yeah, but that's okay. I'm glad you got better from that. Yeah, I know.

SPEAKER_00

I don't know how it happened.

SPEAKER_03

That's good though.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, it was a very very painful.

SPEAKER_03

I bet those are the worst pain.

SPEAKER_00

And I think I was barely early in my early 20s.

SPEAKER_03

Okay, yeah. Yeah, so we're young too, so it helps. We heal a little faster.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, no, we don't.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, yeah, now now it's a little harder.

SPEAKER_00

Now we do have to be mindful.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, we do have to be mindful of everything.

SPEAKER_00

Um what uh okay, so what's one simple thing that people can start doing today to improve their spine health?

SPEAKER_03

Um daily movement. Daily movement for short, but daily intentional movement, right? So I think I think we move in general every day, right? We're walking everywhere, we're driving, um, we're lifting things. Those are basic things that we're doing, but intentional movement is good. How you walk, how you move, posture, going back to posture, how you sit, right? Those are small things that we can tweak in our daily lives to help improve long term, right? Um, stretching, mobility is excellent as well. Um, and that's good for long-term health overall. But if you ever have any questions, seek care at a chiropractor.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Would you recommend um people exercising, quote unquote exercising, just move in like 30 minutes, 20 minutes?

SPEAKER_03

Yeah. Um, it's it depends. It depends on the patient. There's no set time in general. Um, some patients I recommend if you can just get out of the house, walk around the block, that's sufficient, that's good. That's as long as you're not sedentary for too long, right? And not saying being sedentary is terrible, right? I mean, it's I mean, if you want to spend the weekend on the couch for an hour, I think that's fine, or even longer. Whatever you need, right? Mentally or physically. Um, but it depends on the patient at the end of the day. But as long as you're getting out there and moving, you're inspired to move, I think that goes a long ways for not only you, but everyone around you too.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. Yeah, that's that's true. We gotta move so we don't get stuck.

SPEAKER_04

There you go. I like that. That's good.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. Because you know that sometimes um I haven't worked out since I got pregnant. Just hit the mic. Um so I feel my my body's so stiff, you know. I I try to run the other day and I'm like, oh my gosh, my joints hurt.

SPEAKER_03

Are you an avid runner? Do you like to run?

SPEAKER_00

I love to run, yeah. I love to run. But I I I was my pregnancy was high risk, so I couldn't do a lot of things.

SPEAKER_04

Sure.

SPEAKER_00

And that I feel like my body just got stuck. You know, I need some oil and some movement, and let's go.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

But yeah, I think it's good to to move at least 20, 30 minutes, whatever it is. But yeah.

SPEAKER_03

Absolutely. Whatever whatever it takes to to help you. And if not every day, every other day. Start bite size first, once a week and twice. Yeah. And a little bit more. And that can go a long ways.

SPEAKER_00

Thank you.

SPEAKER_03

You're welcome.

SPEAKER_00

Thank you for sharing that. Um Where do you see the practice in the next five years?

SPEAKER_03

The next five years. Oh gosh. Growing. I think we're growing a lot already. And I want to serve more of East Vale. And then also the surrounding cities too. We have patients that come out to us. What's next to us? We have Ontario, right? We have Norco, Corona, Riverside, Chino. I want to grow our clinic more and also better support our staff at the same time. Our staff works so hard every day to make sure that patient experiences at the clinic are seamless. Not perfect, but we want to make sure that patients are receiving their care and that it's quality, and at the end of the day, that they're getting the care they need. So within five years, I hope to grow the clinic even more, serve more people, maybe make another one. No, I don't know.

SPEAKER_04

Hey, why not?

SPEAKER_03

That's a lot of work. But maybe I'm up for it in five years. We'll see. But right now, the uh my baby is Eastville chiropractic, and I want to make sure that's well taken care of.

SPEAKER_00

So yeah, I know you guys are part of a lot of um uh events in within Eastville, you know, um, move through motivation. We just had Matt on the podcast.

SPEAKER_03

Shout out Matt. I love that guy.

SPEAKER_00

He's full of energy.

SPEAKER_03

I love him.

SPEAKER_00

Love it. Um, how do you think that has impacted your your business? Yeah. Or you personally. Yeah, for sure. Something, an amazing group like that.

SPEAKER_03

Um, both ways. I think it's impacted uh the clinic for one, in terms of like it's reinforcing what we stand for, right? Um uh organizations like move through motivation inspires uh young kids to get out there and move and incentivize it with the form of a scholarship. And that's that aligns with what we want for the community in general. So I think it's great for the clinic. I think it's great for patients to know that organizations like that exist. Um and then also for myself, it inspires me to move, not only for myself, but also the people around me, for my patients, right? And for the people in Eastville, right? So last year when we were involved in the 5K for Move Through Motivation, um, it was really nice to um talk and communicate with basically everyone in that space, um, high school students and then adults booting there as well. So it was really nice to be a part of that. Um, and then uh I know we sponsor a few like youth groups, like youth athlete groups too. So like AU programs or like a softball team, soccer team. So we try to our best to have a balance of with the clinic and then also being a part of the community in some way or another. So and I know Eastville really values that, so it's it works perfectly, it aligns perfectly with us.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, and I love I love that um, sorry, that the city of Eastville has made that space for entrepreneurs to be part of the community that way. You know, because um even with the Eastville Chamber of Commerce, they they do a great job partnering up with the city and um helping the local businesses to be seen.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, yeah. So everyone's so like well informed.

SPEAKER_00

Yes.

SPEAKER_03

I'm I'm I'm really happy. And it's part like I get to go to the chambers meetings at the same time, but it's it's nice to feel like everyone's connected, even though the city is so large, like there's a lot of people here. Yeah, there is. So to connect everyone together is uh a task, but not impossible.

SPEAKER_00

So it's beautiful. Um, what has been your favorite event from the Israel Chamber of Commerce?

SPEAKER_03

Oh my gosh. Honestly, the banquet. I love the banquet. Yeah, that was my first banquet. So I've been to banquets in the past, but my first banquet with the Chamber of Commerce and the city. Um, it was very uh very produced and extravagant, and uh it felt very much like a banquet. So it was very nice to dress up and be formal uh for once, and it was it was just really nice. I really liked it. Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

That's awesome.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Well, thank you for being here with us.

SPEAKER_03

Thank you.

SPEAKER_00

This is a good interview, good insights from you. Yeah. Um, where can we where can the people um book appointments or seek more information?

SPEAKER_03

Okay. Adjust the camera?

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

That camera. Okay. Um my name is Dr. Kwon Do. I'm the managing chiropractor at Eastfield Chiropractic. Um, feel free to book an appointment with us. Our phone number is 951-268-0794. SPEAKER_00

Well, thank you. Yeah, thank you. Thank you. And if you guys want to become members of the Eastwell Chamber of Commerce, and it's not if, become a member today. The cure code will be down below as well, and the information. Thank you, guys.

SPEAKER_04

Thank you.
